We encourage you to take advantage of the following tips and resources to help your child with managing their technology at school and at home.
Laptop Care & Use:
- Avoid eating or drinking near the device and use the device on a table.
- Designate a specific place at home to store the device when not in use. This should be a common place in your home, away from your child’s bedroom.
- Set boundaries with your child about when it is and isn’t appropriate to be on their laptop or phone. A family media agreement can help!
Online Safety:
- Talk with your child about what they’re doing online and how they can stay safe.
- Have conversations about ways to be respectful and kind in online spaces.
- Encourage your child to share when they witness unsafe or unkind behavior online.
ACPS provides technology to support your child’s learning. While having technology is an important part of education and can be fun, it is also a privilege. We encourage you to have conversations with your child about what is appropriate to do with an ACPS-owned device.
