Redistricting Advisory Committee 2023-24 Seeking Volunteers

Dear Families:

Albemarle County Public Schools (ACPS) is currently seeking community volunteers to serve on a Redistricting Advisory Committee that will help address enrollment issues in the Northern Feeder Pattern. This will also include the long term-planning of a new elementary school.  

The committee will study the current attendance boundary issues in the Northern Feeder Pattern and make a recommendation to the Superintendent on how best to redraw the boundaries. Committee members will be asked to analyze data, participate in the development of boundary change scenarios and provide feedback.  

We are seeking community volunteers, including representatives from the following schools:

  • Agnor-Hurt Elementary
  • Baker-Butler Elementary
  • Broadus Wood Elementary
  • Greer Elementary
  • Hollymead Elementary 
  • Stone-Robison Elementary
  • Stony Point Elementary
  • Woodbrook Elementary
  • Burley Middle
  • Journey Middle
  • Lakeside Middle

A member of our Long-Range Planning Advisory Committee and a representative from our Office of Community Engagement will also join the committee to provide additional perspective and expertise.

Before applying to serve on the committee, interested community members should ensure that they can attend all committee meetings. Committee meetings will be held in person at Lakeside Middle School from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on the following dates:

  • Monday, October 2, 2023
  • Monday, October 16, 2023
  • Monday, October 30, 2023
  • Monday, November 13, 2023
  • Monday, December, 11 2023
  • Monday, January 8, 2023
  • Monday, January 22, 2023

In addition to the committee meetings, there will be at least one community meeting to gather feedback. The date of this meeting is to be determined.

To apply, please complete our online application by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, September 20, 2023. Alternatively, a paper copy of the application will be sent home with your student.

Redistricting is among the most sensitive and impactful decisions made by a school division.
